The museum is the same old home of the master that was once opened in 1974 by Master Ali-Akbar Shahnazi. The place is small but houses a history of Iran's music.  The Saba Music Museum is located on Zahiroleslam St, Baharestan neighborhood.

The museum is located in the home where master musician Abolhassan Saba (1902-1957) lived and died. It houses a large collection of music instruments owned by Saba and a selection of donated instruments, letters handwritten by Saba, photos, personal items and a collection of dolls clad in Persian tribal costumes.

    Master Abolhassan Saba was born in Tehran to Abul Qasim Khan Kamal ol-Saltaneh, son of Mohammad Jafar Khan Sadr ol-Hekma, son of Mahmud Khan Kashi Malak ol-Shoara Sadr ol-Shoara Saba ol-Shoara, son of Mohammad Hossain Khan Malak ol-Shoara who was of the learned and art lovers of his age. Kamal ol-Saltaneh was a physician, literary, and music lover. He played setar very pleasantly and was the first teacher of his son. Abolhassan Saba sometimes also made music and he very well knew Iranian classic as well as literature and English language. He was also fond of planting flowers. His main instrument was violin which was taught to him by Hossin Khan Hang Afarin. He also learned santour with Ali Akbar Shahi and Habib Samaee, kamancheh with Hossin Khan Esmail Zadeh, tonkbak with Haji Khan Zarbi, reed with Akbar Khan, taar with Alinaghi Vaziri and learned setaar to perfection in the school of Ostad Mirza and Gholamhossein Darvish. He attended Kamalolmolk School and learned painting when he was young. He also acquired skills such as filing, carpentry, casting, inlay and misaic which were later used by him in making musical instruments
