This collection contains 1400 coins, 750 banknotes and about 200 antique objects which are displayed in an area of about 2000 square meters. This collection represents not only a considerable number of coins and banknotes of Iran, but also parts of the history of this land.
In 1999 a new section was added to the museum in the main hall which displays coins and banknotes from other countries with some general information such as the flag and the map of the country and some information about the currency of that country and its value. The museum of money has some other parts beside the main parts which briefly are: the technical library, the data bank of the museum, some miscellaneous fairs and the bookstore.
The museum of banknotes include: before banknotes era, the hall about the history of coin and the halls about the history of banknotes. These sections are quite eye-catching and depict thousands of years of the history of this country continuously and nonstop. It also tries to display coins, which are the most reliable historical evidence economically, artistically, ornamentally and decoratively, along with their most important feature i.e. culturally and historically.
