Nasiri-Qeidari added on the sidelines of a local meeting that as many as 17 Iranian historical monuments have so far been registered on global heritage list and the country has the potential to register more.
UNESCO National Commission has always provided all the countries with incentives to register their sites on global heritage list and it has never discouraged them from doing so, he said.
He further noted that registration of the monuments on global heritage list is mandatory not only for the countries housing them but also for all UN member states.
They should all extend material and spiritual support to them, he said.
Nasiri-Qeidari expressed pleasure with cooperation of the Iranian universities and educational centers with the National Commission of UNESCO.
