Turan Biosphere Reserve with a total area of 1470,640 hectares is the largest biosphere reserve in Iran, which is the second largest biosphere region in the world after the reign of Africa in Tanzania. Touran is named after the Naibandan Wildlife Refuge in Tabas as the second largest protected area in Iran.
Kharturan also probably has the largest number of cheetahs among different regions of Iran. Except for these, the Persian gazelle (Ahu), Jabir, Iranian leopard, Lynx, Wild sheep, Kobz, Sandy cat, Plain cat, Pallas cat (from rare species of cats in Iran), Hyaena , Wolf, Yellow jackal, Red fox and King Foxes are mammals of this region. Turan hosts the only Asian Asian cheetah. It is also in the captivity of the world; it is called the Delbar Cheetah.
The birds of the Turan National Park include, Chlamydotis macqueenii, Partridge, Thio, Quails, Chakhlagh, Pigeon, Lunar, Dom jonbanak Ablagh, Coracias benghalensis, Pterocles , Chloris chloris, Trumpeter Finch, Crested Lark , Isabelline Shrike , Hawthorn,types of Sparrow, Ferruginous Duck And herons and various kinds of birds such as Bahri, kestrel , Golden Eagle, Eagle Dashti, Eurasian Eagle-Owl , Eurasian Scops Owl, Dahl, Neophron percnopterus, Accipiter nisus andSteppe Buzzard. This area is also one of the best habitats for bog crow. The Persian Ground-jay is the only Iranian exclusive bird that lives next to Zygophyllum shrubs.
In terms of structural and geological, a small part of the north of the region, except the Alborz Zone, and the rest of Central Iran. Turan is classified as the world heritage of steppe grassland in the Middle Asia and desert desert of the Middle East.
The major heights of the region include the Maghrad mountains, Peyghambaran mountains, Sookhteh mountains, Paro baal, Shoorab al-Kum, the dark strait and the Gharibeh mountain. From the main springs of this area, you can find the fountains of Gharibeh, Si Tal, Afghans, Lekem, Talhab, Kal, Mara, Parobal, Ponidere, Hani, Nestane, Boglu, Shah Cheshmeh, Melyeh, Bahandar, cheshmeh Shah, Cheshmeh Maghdad, Pariyeh Spring, Abulahiyah and aziz Cheshme.
Among the important cities and villages that can affect the bay reservoir, it can be found in the town of Biarjamakd, located 49 km west of the region, and the villages of Zaman Abad, Ahmed Abad, Reza Abad, Dastjerd and Abbas Abad.
